Fate and Form of Nitrogen under Different Soil Redox Status

چکیده
The experiment sets out to investigate the effect of oxidation-reduction on nitrogen formsin soil. trial was a 3 x 2 factorial laid in Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) and replicated three times. Treatment consisted two variables which are poultry manure at levels (0t/ha, 6t/ha 8t/ha) water regime (field capacity waterlogged). The combinations resulted into six (6) treatments resulting potential range [oxidized (>300), moderately reduced (-100 300), (<-100)]. Data collected pH, Eh, Total nitrogen, Organic matter,NO3—N NH4+-N. were subjected Analysis variance (ANOVA) while mean separated using Tukey Honesty Significant Difference (HSD) Test. Graphs generated Microsoft excel. result showed that under oxidize condition is majorly nitrate form ammonia. However, soil had highest total content. This attributed fact both forms present as accumulation NH4+ progress nitrification process. It concluded fate also depends status

Adsorption of arsenic on soil under different soil moisture conditions
The adsorption study was conducted on three Japanese soils with different soil properties to characterize the adsorption pattern of Arsenic (As). Double tube method was used to find out the effect of soil moisture levels on As adsorption. For this study, besides double tube method, conventional batch method also was used. The As adsorption showed two phase kinetics. An initial and rapid adsorpt...

متن کاملYield and nitrogen leaching in maize field under different nitrogen rates and partial root drying irrigation
Irrigation water is limiting for crop production in arid and semi-arid areas. Furthermore, excess nitrogen (N) application is a source of groundwater contamination. Partial root drying irrigation (PRD) can be used as water saving technique and a controlling measure of groundwater N contamination. The objectives of this investigation were to evaluate the effect of ordinary furrow irrigation (OFI...
متن کاملInorganic soil nitrogen under grassland plant communities of different species composition and diversity
We measured aboveground plant biomass and soil inorganic nitrogen pools in a biodiversity experiment in northern Sweden, with plant species richness ranging from 1 to 12 species. In general, biomass increased and nitrate pools decreased with increasing species richness. Transgressive overyielding of mixed plant communities compared to the most productive of the corresponding monocultures occurr...
متن کاملInteraction of different irrigation strategies and soil textures on the nitrogen uptake of field grown potatoes
Nitrogen (N) uptake (kg ha-1) of field-grown potatoes was measured in 4.32 m2 lysimeters that were filled with coarse sand, loamy sand, and sandy loam and subjected to full (FI), deficit (DI), and partial root-zone drying (PRD) irrigation strategies. PRD and DI as water-saving irrigation treatments received 65% of FI after tuber bulking and lasted for six weeks until final harvest. Results show...
